Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organising Committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 2012 ASM, to be held in Queenstown, Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 August. Following the success of last year's meeting, the focus of this meeting is again an issue of interest across the nine surgical specialties.
This year we have chosen the theme "Surgery 2012: A Life of Learning". We have a line- up of experienced and skilled presenters to discuss the challenges of life-long surgical learning, now and in the future.
An important part of this meeting is the awarding of the Louis Barnett prize, valued at $2,500. This is an opportunity for NZ based trainees (and Fellows under age of forty) to showcase their research. A maximum of six papers, selected from submitted abstracts, will be presented and judged for awarding of the prize.
A surgical history session will precede the conference on Monday morning, the conference proper starts Monday lunchtime and concludes on Tuesday afternoon. We will again arrange an informal dinner that evening, for those who may be staying on.
I look forward to seeing you there.
Kind regards
Scott Stevenson
