On behalf of the organising committee, it is my great pleasure to extend a very warm welcome to you and your partner to attend the 60th ASOHNS Annual Scientific Meeting at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre Darling Harbour.

The conference runs from Saturday 27- Tuesday 30th March 2010 with pre and post conference satellite workshops.

Also we are extremely fortunate to have distinguished international speakers
- Prof David Ellis of Toronto Canada speaking on Facial Plastics. He is past President of the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology, Founding President of the Canadian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, and past Canadian VP of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
- Prof Marc Remacle of Belgium speaking at the ASOHNS ENT laser course. He is associated-Head of the Department of ORL-HNS at the University of Louvain, Belgium. He is on the scientific board of several journals; co-edited and contributed to books entitled "Principles and Practice of Lasers in Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck" and "Surgery of Larynx and Trachea" and published extensively in peer reviewed journals on this subject, and
- Prof Zhang of China speaking on coblation of the tongue base.
Also,
- A/Prof Lee Collins of the Medical Physics Dept Westmead Hospital will conduct a Laser Safety Course during the conference. He is chairman of the Australian/New Zealand Standards committee responsible for medical laser safety standards. The course is for persons wishing to operate, or a refresher course for those operating class 4 lasers in medicine and surgery. The course is approved for the purposes of obtaining a Queensland, Tasmanian or WA licence to use class 4 lasers.

The call for abstracts for presentations and posters is now closed. A number of abstracts submitted to the conference will be selected for publication in the Australian Supplement of the OHNS journal if the authors agree.
Pre Conference Workshops
ASOHNS Temporal Bone Course at RPA:
Friday 26th March 2010 and Saturday 27th March 2010.
The Faculty is Prof Bruce Gantz, who is one of our international keynote speakers, Dr Tom Kertesz, A/Prof Glen Croxson, Prof Bill Gibson, Dr David Pohl, Dr Catherine Birman, Prof Marcus Atlas, A/Prof Rob Briggs, and Dr Andrew Lomas.
There are 20 dissecting places which are strictly on a first come first served basis. Non-dissectors have an extensive 2-day program covering all aspects of otology including attendance at the "BPPV for beginners and experts, and beyond, Theory and Practicum" instruction course on Saturday morning given by Dr David Pohl, Prof Michael Halmagyi, Dr James Colebatch, and Dr Brian Williams.
ASOHNS BPPV for beginners and experts, and beyond. Theory and practicum:
8.30 am - 12.00 noon Saturday 27th March 2010 at Darling Harbour Convention Centre
The course will cover all forms of BPPV, migranous vertigo, the omniax, and VEMPs. Dr David Pohl, Prof Michael Halmagyi, Dr James Colebatch, and Dr Brian Williams will present the course.
ASOHNS Permanent Impairment assessment in ENT in Australia
1.00 - 5.00 pm Saturday 27th March 2010 at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre.
All aspects will be covered. Dr Rob Webb, Dr Hugh Millar, Dr Joe Scoppa, Dr J Tomich, and Dr Brian Williams will present. All speakers have extensive knowledge and experience in permanent impairment assessment.
ASOHNS Sialendoscopy Course
8.00 am - 4.30 pm Saturday 27th March 2010 at Royal North Shore Hospital-Sydney Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, St Leonards.
Drs David Veivers, Suren Krishnan and Prof Gunesh Rajan will conduct the workshop. There will be places for Dissectors and non dissectors; however places for dissectors are strictly limited to 20 on a first come first served basis.

ASOHNS Comprehensive Rhinology Course
The post conference Wednesday is Comprehensive Rhinology Day at Darling Harbour Convention Centre. Our two International keynote speakers Prof Bradley Marple and A/Prof D Sethi and a local faculty will present an outstanding program.
ASOHNS ENT Laser Course (2 days)
Wednesday and Thursday at Royal North Shore Hospital- Sydney Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, St Leonards.
