Dear Colleague, As you already know the 10th European Symposium on Paediatric Cochlear Implantation will be organized in Athens - Greece from 12-15 May 2011. This is a perfect opportunity to celebrate the 50 years of cochlear implantation. Since 1961 - the first single channel implantation - until today we have seen great changes and remarkable outcomes in our field that nobody could ever guess. All-together we will celebrate these 50 years and ponder upon what we have accomplished as well as plan together the future developments. The scientific program is designed to enhance the experience and skills of the participants and covers a wide range of subjects. The program will include plenary sessions, lectures, round tables, debates, meet the expert sessions, symposiums and free paper sessions. The multidisciplinary approach will be emphasized and special workshops will focus on speech and language therapy and education. We will share the latest news on surgery and technology but there will also be special days devoted to teachers for the deaf and speech pathologists whose contribution is very important. Spring is the most beautiful period of the year in Greece. Besides the scientific program, there will be enough time to explore Athens and visit some of the most magnificent ancient places such as the Acropolis with its Νew Μuseum and the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion. The social program will include celebration parties focused on the traditional and modern type of Greek entertainment. You may find more information regarding your participation on the web site www.espci2011.com. I am looking forward to seeing you in Athens. With my warmest regards Thomas P. Nikolopoulos, MD, DM, PHD
Please note that the deadline for the submission of abstracts is December 15th 2010.
