A personal message from the Dean 

 I am delighted to announce that Richard Douglas has been appointed to the new ‘Garnett Passe and Rodney Williams Memorial Foundation Professorial Chair in Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.'Richard joined our faculty in 2008 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2013.  Instrumental in designing the Otorhinolaryngology curriculum, he leads the Specialty Surgery programme and is also Deputy Head of our Department of Surgery.   Richard is an outstanding ORL clinician with the Auckland District Health Board and an active clinician-researcher with tremendous experience in immunology, sinus surgery and the treatment of rhinosinusitis.We are most grateful to the Garnett Passe and Rodney Williams Memorial Foundation for its significant support in establishing the Chair.  Established with funding of $2 million over five years from the Foundation, the primary purpose of the Chair is to provide leadership in the specialty of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in New Zealand and across the region.  Professor William Coman AM, Foundation Chair, says that Richard brings an impressive track record of clinical and scientific achievement to the position and that the Foundation is confident that Richard's appointment will yield positive and important progress in the specialty in coming years.   Please join me in congratulating Richard on this new and exciting role.
